A practical, engaging one-day course to demystify the process of applying for funding. Suitable whether you are new to writing bids or want to build your confidence and develop existing skills.

About the course

Delivered through a mix of discussion, presentation and exercises to put learning into practice, we will consider different funders including Trusts, Lottery and Arts Council England. Delivery will be friendly and hands-on, providing lots of opportunities to share tips and ask questions, as well as looking at live examples.

We will cover:

• Who are funders and what are they looking for?
• Jargon busting
• Planning your bid
• Pitching your project
• Budgeting for your bid
• Working with partners
• Showing what your project will do
• Increasing your chances of success
• Next steps and getting started on your bid

Ideal if you’re working in a small cultural organisation or producing your own projects.

If you’re a freelance creative, you’re interested in an arts career, or if you’ve just taken on a fundraising role, this course will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to write successful funding bids.

About Christina

I am an arts trainer and consultant and have worked for arts organisations and with individual artists across the UK for the last 20 years. I love working with people on their finance, policies, fundraising, organisational development and procedures – all the things that underpin the arts and allow amazing projects to happen. My fundraising experience covers the spectrum from raising small pots of money for community projects through to leading on fundraising strategy and successful multi-year large-scale bids for Arts Council National Portfolio organisatIons. My training is informed by extensive, current experience.
