Getting Value From Evaluation: an introduction to why and how you can evaluate the impact of your creative work.

Who’s it for?

Individual creative practitioners and those working for arts, culture and heritage organisations. Anyone who would like to develop tools to identify the impacts of their work and to be able to reflect on how their practice could develop further. Learn how to evaluate anything from a one-off event to an organisation’s entire programme.

What’s the content?

  • explore the purpose and value of evaluation
  • discover the principles of good evaluation practice
  • understand how to create a simple evaluation framework
  • look at the pros and cons of a variety of evaluation methods
  • take away tips about how to embed and improve your evaluation practice, and links to further reading and resources

The training runs as two half-day Zoom workshops:

Tues. 1 Oct. 1000 – 1230 Online via Zoom
and Thurs. 3 Oct. 1000 – 1230 Online via Zoom

(Please note by booking a ticket to this training course you are booking for both of the half day sessions on 1st & 3rd October.)

Session one on 1st October covers the principles underpinning good evaluation practice, and how to design an evaluation framework.

Session two on 3rd October looks at different evaluation methodologies, how to choose the most appropriate tools to evaluate your work, and how to design effective ways of gathering feedback.

You will be provided with a set of resources and links for further learning.

Trainer: Kate Rodenhurst recently completed evaluation of the Helping Hands inclusive volunteering programme in Cumbria, and works as an evaluation consultant with Cumbria Museum Consortium and Rosehill Theatre. She has been a freelance consultant working across the museums, arts and heritage sector since 2007. She has carried out a large number of project evaluations, for everything from small heritage projects to the Cultural Olympiad.
