What is it?
This exploratory day will introduce creatives to artistic co-creation, what it is, who it benefits, where it happens and why we co-create. Case studies from Alexis’s own co-creation practice will be used to begin a dialogue to explore the architecture that helps co-creation to flourish or falter. Activities will allow creatives to share their own co-creation knowledge and ideas, to define what co-creation practice means to them.

The exploratory day is designed to support creatives at every stage of their co-creation journey.
What will you get out of it?
Creatives with little or no experience in co-creation will be introduced to the co-creation process. Those experienced in co-creation will be given the opportunity to exchange knowledge and gain feedback. The activities will grant each creative the opportunity to better understand their own practice in relation to their peers, that in turn furthers all our co-creation practice.
Who’s the trainer?
Alexis K Johnson is an independent North West-based artist and creative producer. She has worked across inter-disciplinary place-specific performance, installation and arts festivals for the past 25 years, interconnecting artists, people and place through the process of co-creation to make new art and events. She is currently completing her PhD with University of South Australia on artistic co-creation. Alexis enjoys sharing about co-creation practice and has developed a number of programmes for British Council West Africa and Brazil, for UK universities and for Creative Europe. Her own work has been exhibited at Tate Britain, Institute of Contemporary Arts and the V&A – but she primarily works in outdoor arts with people and place.

Refunds are on a case-by case basis, but CACN’s general policy is: we are unable to offer a refund unless we can re-sell your ticket. Eventbrite’s fees are non-refundable. Any refund requests must be received 1 day prior to the event, emails will not be monitored outside working hours.

CACN’s programme of training, events and workshops are offered to artists, freelancers, arts organisations and others involved in the art, cultural and heritage sector who live or work in Cumbria.
