Writers’ Meet up: Led by Katie Hale

Mon, 4 Mar 2024 18:30 – 20:30, Zoom, Book here

These online meetings, organised by Cumbria Arts & Culture Network, are a chance to have an open conversation with peers and colleagues working in your creative field within Cumbria – to share experiences, identify issues and challenges around working in our region, make connections and start to imagine solutions.

In this second meeting of the CACN Writers’ Network, we’ll explore how Cumbria shapes us as writers – not only the barriers it presents, but also the opportunities it affords. What can the network do to overcome those geographical barriers and develop those geographical strengths to create more opportunities for us as writers?

Don’t worry if you didn’t come to the first meet-up – come along and get stuck in!

This session will be facilitated by Katie Hale. Who says:

Writing can be such a solitary art form, but between us, we have such a wealth of experience and resource knowledge. In this first meeting, we’ll look at any barriers to success faced by writers in Cumbria, and how we might overcome them – sharing experience to explore both immediate and long-term solutions.

Based in Cumbria, Katie Hale is an internationally recognised novelist and poet, with over a decade’s experience of leading and facilitating creative programmes. She won a Northern Debut Award for her poetry collection, White Ghosts, and is the author of a novel, My Name is Monster, and two poetry pamphlets. She has also written for radio, theatre and immersive digital performance.

FREE to attend. Zoom codes will be sent out 1 week, 1 day and 1 hour prior to the event. Book here
