How can art and culture make a difference? What’s your experience, and what are your questions?

This is a 2-hour session for artists, arts organisations and others involved in the cultural sector.

Conversational and participatory, the group will be limited to a maximum of 20 attendees. The aspiration is to leave with inspiration and motivation to be bold, plus some new tools to address environmental challenges.

The session builds on the experience gained in the first workshop held last November, and will delve into topics including:

• learning and raising awareness
• reflection and activation
• knowledge-sharing and collaboration
• and developing practices to improve understanding and impact both within the sector and for wider communities

New connections made during the workshop will help us all, as we develop our work, individually and collectively.

The workshop will be led by Harriet Fraser and Rob Fraser, whose work through their practice somewhere-nowhere focuses on issues of the natural environment. The Frasers are visiting research fellows at the University of Cumbria and are founders of the PLACE Collective at the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas, which brings artists into collaborative teams focusing on environmental challenges, and community connections. They are recipients of the Royal Geographical Society’s 2023 Cherry Kearton Medal for discipline-crossing work in rural contexts.
