💠Demystifying the culture sector in Cumbria – a special event for young creatives under (or close to) 30.

We are thrilled to be bringing you another Big Meet, our event aimed at bringing people together across the arts and culture sector in Cumbria. This time, the Big Meet will be centred around demystifying creative careers for young people (anyone ages 18 – 30…ish) in Cumbria. While the speakers and the content of the day will be aimed at those in the early stages of their career, the event is open to anyone interested in arts and culture across the region.
Join us on Saturday 14th of February with a whole host of fantastic speakers who will be demystifying how the arts and culture sector works in Cumbria. This is a great opportunity for anyone who isn’t sure about their next steps, with no question too daft to ask!
From ‘What is the Arts Council?’ and ‘ Where do I look to find jobs?’ to ‘What help is available?’ ‘How can I find funding?’ and ‘How do I meet people in the sector?’ We’re here to help. It’ll be a session where your voice will be heard and listened to, as well as a chance to hear from those who have been there and are doing it.
We’ll hear from people working in real jobs across the Cumbrian creative industries, whether in organisations or as independent artists, so join us to get top tips on how to break into the sector and make it work. This is an opportunity to network, make new contacts, meet people working in the sector and others in the same boat as you from different creative backgrounds. It’s all part of Cumbria Arts and Culture Network’s See It To Be It programme.
Not only will we be putting on a fantastic, free event, but you will also get:
– A pass to look around Tullie, including the brand new Gladiators of Britain exhibition
– A free lunch, tea and coffee
The Big Meet is totally free to attend, we just ask that you book a spot so that we have an idea of numbers.
You can book your spot here or if you have any questions, you can email us on hello@cacn.co.uk.
We do not want cost to be a barrier to attending the Big Meet, so we have created a small number of £30 travel bursaries for young creatives wishing to attend should you need it. The bursary is for travel expenses getting to and from the event. To apply, please email us on hello@cacn.co.uk with a short explanation of the circumstances.
