I am the Education Development Manager at Wordsworth Grasmere where I co-manage the Education Team. My role involves developing and delivering school and family sessions which take place at our site in Grasmere and in school, library and community settings. My team works with thousands of children and young people annually and we nurture relationships with teachers, parents, carers and other community stakeholders. In my role at Wordsworth Grasmere I also manage the Education Officer and two Education and Visitor Experience Trainees. I work with the Trainees to develop their knowledge and confidence when working with children age 0-18 both formally and informally.
I have been working with children and young people in the arts sector since 2006 as a youth worker, freelance artist, Art Development Officer, Find Your Talent Coordinator and in several learning roles in Museums and for council-run Art Galleries both as an assistant and for the past 12 years as a learning manager working with a range of collections to develop sessions for children and young people. Most recently I have also taken on some freelance work with Keswick Museum covering the running of their Tuesday Tonic group (for people living with Dementia/ Alzheimers and their carers): this is for a maternity cover. Although I have worked with adults before including those with SEND, the bulk of my experience is with children, young people and families. I am passionate about making arts and culture accessible to all and enjoy sharing heritage and history with young people. I also love to work in a team and support others to do a good job.
