Last week, the Centre for Leadership and Performance ran their Projx Programme for 2026 focussing on the Arts. An innovative work awareness programme, Projx offers students the opportunity to work with a range of local businesses, giving an insight into the range of roles and skills needed to deliver any professional project, this year focused on the arts and culture sector.
The 12 students who attended were split into three teams and given a brief by the client, CACN at the beginning of the week, contracting them as an events management team to plan an event that supports young creatives in Cumbria. With the support of the delivery partners, the teams used the week to come up with and develop an innovative idea and a proposal, which they presented back to us on Friday.
The ideas included:
- A digital competition for young creatives to submit and share their work culminating in an awards event
- A festival with workshops and stalls for young creatives, sponsored by creative organisations, including live music and an art trail for younger children
- An arts Festival with stalls for young people to speak with Cumbrian creatives, aiming to help young adults who are thinking about a creative career
A huge thank you goes to all the delivery partners involved, including TryBooking, Lakeland Arts, Armitt Museum and the Knotted Project, as well as Brewery Arts who hosted the event for the week. It was fantastic to see the development of the teams and their ideas over the course of the week, and we left as very happy clients!
